It'll grow on you, like an Orange Fungus
The SKX781 is the Orange face version of SKX779. Employing the venerable 7S26 movement (auto + day/date). Not as rare as the Yellow SKZ203K1, still originally an 'import-only' watch that the shrewd buyer can find for under $150 delivered from the Pacific Rim directly; odd then to see $100 replicas of this watch. I've even seen a blue one come on the scene... At first my wife said: "ewww, what's that big ugly thing?" now, she actually requests it when I'm sporting any deep/strong blue shirts - the face and rich cobalt blues work great together - but that's not quite the point of this watch.... It is a very strudy watch. The movement is proven strong but doesn't hack nor is it hand windable. The raised bezel protects the polymer based crystal (idea: won't shatter when bumped underwater) but it isn't as hard as a sapphire crystal. I bought it frankly, as a novelty, and I now really enjoy wearing it. $150 for a 200m proven auto with limited supply is a no-brainer. |
